2026 Unison Heritage Day is on November 7

The village of Unison is one of the oldest communities in Loudoun County, Virginia. Unison was settled by Quakers in the 1730s and chartered as a village in 1812. Unison is also home to the Battle of Unison which took place during the American Civil War from October 31-November 2, 1862.

As you can see on our site and in person many of the homes, structures and the village itself look remarkably just like they did at its founding and in the early years of its history.  The Unison Preservation Society was founded in 2001 to ensure that  this wonderful, diverse and cozy village survives and thrives while continuing to reflect the modern world. Welcome to our site and enjoy exploring Unison’s past, and to connect with its vibrant and interesting present!

New from the UPS Newsletter: "Well, Well, Well"

With Loudoun County in the midst of its 24th-driest year in 132 years, our Summer 2026 newsletter sits down with water systems consultant Matt Tolley for straight answers on a question every Unison homeowner should be asking: how well do you actually know your well? Tolley walks through what to check — depth, yield, and water quality — and where to get it tested.

Also inside: Howardsville's new road sign, 165 years in the making; our Music on the Porch summer concert series; and a save-the-date for Heritage Day 2026..
